Gwaenysgor Community Choir

gwaenysgor-village-hall

The Gwaenysgor  Community  Choir continues to grow from strength to strength, with just under 30 members. Recent recruits include new residents who have found the choir to be an excellent way of making new acquaintances in the village.

Our remit is singing for enjoyment and the associated benefits of that, rather than performing.  Preparation for performances takes a lot of time and commitment  both on the part of the members and particularly for our Choir Leader who travels from Caernarfon and also has a full time day job, so such occasions are few and far between, we are however very happy to perform when requested by any local organisations.

We take members from 11 years old to 70+ and membership is not limited to Gwaenysgor residents.

The Choir meets in Gwaenysgor Village Hall (as above) every Tuesday 6.30 – 8pm. and provides a wonderful opportunity to create music in a friendly group – it’s a lot of fun!

We are led by Jamie Dawes, a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network. NVPN is about celebrating the voice you were born with, rather than trying to train it to an ideal of perfection, it’s about building non-judgmental communities that sing together, welcoming all voices into a group without audition and working to make a group sound, and it’s about making learning by ear accessible to the whole group so that nobody needs to be able to read music.
