Recent activities by the Conservation Group.

The Conservation Group has been fortunate to secure founding from Cadwyn Clwyd to convert the K6 telephone box into a Community Information Centre.

We are in discussions with Cadwyn Clwyd as to the design and contents.

Our thanks go to the members who turned up to litter pick on Saturday 17th September – the good weather helped. Our thanks go to Judith of “keep Wales tidy” who provided the equipment and also to FCC who collected the rubbish in the afternoon.

2   Matters arising – 3(6) Children’s play area – The Community Council has now received the formal documentation of ownership

3   Church Projects – YM reported that hay areas had now been cut by Mike Babbidge. Contractors had cut the path areas and other long grass. Some cut grass still needs to by raked up and removed. Volunteers still urgently needed. Hay bales help to seed wild flowers from ANOB

4   Update on Conservation Projects

1   Telephone box – Further confirmation of funding received from Cadwyn Clwyd. The £750 share had been approved and notified to Cadwyn Clwyd (£300 from Conservation group an £450 from the Community Council). There is a meeting of the Community Council on 13th October where we expect to hear of progress on the purchase of the box, planning approval and a lease agreement with Mrs Roberts.
In the meantime the group will meet with Cadwyn Clwyd on Wednesday 19th October at 7.30pm in the village hall to discuss the project and our requirements (Can members please bring along any useful info about the village eg. Pictures, information booklets, walking guides which might be useful as a project guide)
2   Wild flower planting – We have not been successful so far in securing grants. It was agreed to set aside £300 towards seeds or plugs and a purchase source would be pursued. We would need to liaise with ANOB and FCC in proposed locations
3   Well project – We have continued to look for a funding grant for the work but no luck so far. The manufacture of the pump housing and information board we think will be in the region of £1500. We had approached Flintshire fabrications some time ago as there is an identical housing in Loch nearby with no success. NSM agreed to speak to the company. Phil J suggested we looked at ways of raising the funds ourselves

5   Community Council Report – PJ circulated a summary (copy attached)

6   Secretaries report – The progress of the projects is detailed above
The two litter pick days successfully collected up to 7 bin bags on each occasion. Thanks goes to everyone who helped on the day and to KWT for the loan of the equipment and FCC for collecting the rubbish so promptly.

7   Treasurers report – Please see attached

8   Any other business –

1 The decking in the area of the wetlands is in need of repair. JW would speak to ANOB to see if it could be done as a joint project
2 JW had spoken to Max Wenger and he expressed an interest in organising a “Gwaenysgor remembered” evening with photos ,films and slide show It was agreed this could be a possible fund raiser and the offer should be kindly accepted
